I was first introduced to The Blue Stones through their album Hidden Gems which I loved. I had just started listening to The Black Keys and found myself easily moving into other bands within the rock genre. The Blue Stones aren't as rough as The Black Keys in their sound. They sound more polished, which I like. I listened to Hidden Gems several times through before I realized that it was their second LP. I found their first album, Black Holes, and knew I was in for a great album. Not only is the album cover incredible, but it sets you up for what the album has instore atmosphere wise (not a pun). This album has space vibes, not only in the album artwork but also in the sound. It takes you into a new world, allowing you to almost feel weightless. Listeners are taken on a journey. I feel that the band was able to establish a certain atmosphere in this album that isn't carried over into their second album (which is not a detractor at all. That album is its own thing). If you want to find a bridge between Pop, Alternative, and Rock, I believe The Blue Stones are the perfect find.
